There’s quite a MASSIVE difference between a ‘collision’ and an ‘explosion’. If you were in a car what would you prefer?
The moon has had millions of collisions in its life, possibly shaping it and moving it into our gravitational field. An explosion would be new to the moon, with all manner of fucking horrendous outcomes. Even knocking it a few metres closer or further away could make a huge change to our eco-system.

What do you mean depleted our resources, we’ve got miles to go yet. Just he Earth’s crust is 20-30 miles thick. In man’s quest for minerals he’s barely even scratched the surface. Most minerals we use today come from the area less then a mile thick. The problem is not going to be solved but going to the moon for easy sources, but learning how to use what have without screwing our own planet.
